Most people don't like the idea
of having to do taxes each year. However, it is a mandatory chore for all people to do, or else they will run into
trouble with the IRS. If you happen to be employed by an employer who
automatically deducts a taxable amount of money from your earnings each month,
you are lucky. However, if you are self-employed or work as a freelance writer,
you will be responsible for your own taxes. Here are some tips to prepare your taxes.
1. Schedule a Time to Do It
Most people procrastinate because
they do not create a time to do their taxes. You can overcome procrastination
by setting up a specific time to organize your taxes. Doing your taxes may take
up the whole day, so maybe you will have to choose a free weekend and spend the
whole day calculating your tax amount. The best part is, once you are done, you
will feel a lot relieved.
2. Use Professional Tax Management
Software
There are currently a number of tax
management software to help you manage your taxes efficiently. Some are free,
but others will ask you for a small monthly fee. The software will
automatically calculate your tax amount according to the tax bracket that you
enter. Having such type of software is extremely convenient when you are not
good at maths or too busy to do the calculations yourself.
3. Set Aside Enough Money for Your Taxes
If you are self-employed or work
as an independent contractor, you will be responsible for your own taxes. You
need to set aside certain amount of money from your monthly income for your
taxes. This way, you will be on the safer side and won't end up having to panic
when tax time comes.
4. Read up on the Tax Code
Many people have no idea how the
IRS works and what rights and responsibilities they have in terms of taxes. To
protect yourself, you should read the tax code carefully and not get confused.
5. Hire Professional Help
If you just don't have enough
time or energy to follow the above tips, consider hiring a professional CPA
accountant to help you out. This way, you no longer have to worry about your
taxes and could focus your energy on your business alone.

Great post!
Planning and being organised really is the key for managing your taxes. But too often this is easier said than done. If feeling unsecure about how and what to claim, using external help is the best way. Taxes are not a matter to toy with.
